In the heart of the Renaissance town of Amboise, with its charming cobbled streets, stands the Royal Castle of Amboise. Charles VIII was the true architect of this castle, choosing to transform this medieval residence into a Gothic castle. Francis I, the great king of the Renaissance, spent much of his childhood here under the protection of his uncle Louis XII and his wife Anne of Brittany.
Discover the Chapel of Saint Hubert, a jewel of flamboyant Gothic architecture and the burial place of the famous Italian genius Leonardo da Vinci, finally reopened to the public after an exceptional three-year restoration.
Two new gardens are waiting to be discovered at the Royal Castle of Amboise. The Garden of the Seven Virtues, which has become a new place for contemplation overlooking the town, the chapel and the royal residence, in the shade of mulberry trees. The Garden of Naples, completely redesigned with the planting of Mediterranean species, offering an exceptional view of the Loire.
