Also known as the "Château des Ducs d'Anjou", the Château d'Angers dominates the city and the river from its slate promontory. With its 17 towers, the ancient fortress asserts its power over the Angers landscape. What makes the Château d'Angers so famous, however, is its tapestry of the Apocalypse, which is no less than 100 metres long and illustrates the historical, social and political context of the 13th century.
